Hello, I decided to purchase my own domain and move my bridal blog over to http://www.BridalSeamstressBlog.com so hop on over there to find me. God bless! Diana
She was wearing her veil, make-up, jewelry everything needed to go with her gown for her fitting today, and she is my kinda bride!
I truely appreciate this type of bride, and let me tell you, no, its NOT true, not all brides are alike! She also brought her mom and maid of honor and her wedding is nearly 4 months away!
I was only putting a bustle on her gown, she needed nothing else ( so far) other than I did fix the waist band of her crinoline skirt…Everything matched, went together, only I didn’t tell her but I’d add a little more color to the make-up. Just a little. Maybe I’ll tell her later. She has the sweetest ever mom too! I had 6 different clients today and she is the one I blogged about today.
I’m the most blessed Bridal Seamstress though, just a few brides make me raise my eyebrow, but really all of them are the best! I am so thankful to have them in my life! I could sew scrubs or casual clothing alterations for a living, but I would NOT get the feeling I get when a client is truely happy and I had a part in that.
So if you asked why did I choose bridal, when I can sew a vast array of things, one I would say the income is there, the other I would say the satisfaction is truely there. Sewing bridal is stressful when its a busy season, but its the best career choice for me…

I have this HUGE need to create, besides the bridal alterations, and I love making childrens clothing.
So I have figured it out…I think. I am going back to creating prom dresses & christening & daygowns. So I can use the untreated cotton & cotton laces to create the day gowns, and christening gowns. The fabrics I have here that was for little girl dresses will easy make preteen dresses too, along with household crafts.
So CPSIA, you can’t stop me – nor take from me, I am a woman that knows how to shift gears in my sewing skills. Well at least until you realize that my dresses never had any item that would harm any child. ( I never bling childrens wear with charms & such).
So as for me CPSIA stands for
C=Cant
P=Put
S=Seamstress
I=In
A=Anger!
I am going to still be the sweet gramma that keeps on giving.

This was my client today, came for her gown ( and her bridemaid gown), the hem & bustle was done and alas, she had no slippers, shoes, whatever. I clearly request these things at each fitting! At least shoes!
She even asked me if she could “borrow” my heels? Excuse me? I don’t share my shoes! She asked if I had and heels lying around, I replied I dont wear heels (which is the truth) but anyways come on, any gal knows heels come in all shapes & sizes, and that MOST gals don’t share thier heels, ewe!
Then she went on to attempt to pick at the way the dress was altered, excuse me again? She can’t bring her shoes, didn’t have time you say, yet she has the time to pick at my sewing skills, which she later said was perfect ?
And I allowed her to try her gown on, even though she has no shoes/slippers, to see that my sewing is just fine, that took a 1/2 hr.
Then you mention is this layering correctly? Of course it is! Then you want to bring up a picture on MY computer, which shows you the same thing you are wearing…..that it is layered perfectly!
Oh my, this is AFTER she asked to use my computer for some other “personal reason”..I will not allow another client to use my PC ever again…What was I thinking today? Why was I so generous? …..A whole hour wasted, really. And it seemed to me this was intended, that she was trying to stall at my place for awhile…Maybe she should have went shoe shopping instead?
I had her pay the bill she owed, and allowed her to take her gowns home, I told her I was finished for today, that I had enough of this fitting. I mentioned for her to take the time to put her heels on when she got home and recheck the gown. If she needs to come back, well then call me. I will charge you for that previous hours fitting, as I would have been sewing for someone that would bring thier shoes!
I told myself today to stick to my policies, because they are there so I wont feel this way. Err …I was completely upset! Too emotional really, what with the other stresses of life today…What I should have done was shown her my policy page, you know the part that mentions I expect shoes & bras at fittings…..Things that make you go Ummm.
